How do Credits Work?
- 1 credit = $0.001 or $1 = 1,000 credits
- Credits are deducted automatically while your server exists.
- Rates differ depending on whether the server is running or stopped.
When the Server is Running
Credits are depleted per minute based on your allocated resources:
- RAM: 4 credits per GB per hour
- CPU: 2 credits per vCPU per hour
| RAM | vCPU | Credits / Hour | 24/7 (30-day) Cost in Credits | 24/7 $ Cost (via Credits) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | 4+2 = 6 | 4,320 | $4.32 |
| 3 | 2 | 12+4 = 16 | 11,520 | $11.52 |
| 5 | 4 | 20+8 = 28 | 20,160 | $20.16 |
| 7 | 6 | 28+12 = 40 | 28,800 | $28.80 |
When the Server is Stopped
Even when your server is powered off, it uses a very small number of credits based on how much disk space your server occupies.
There are two types of storage that may contribute to stopped-server cost:
1. Active Server Storage (Your World + Mods + Config Files)
This is the actual size of your server files.
- 0.20 credits per GB per day
(~6 credits per GB per month ≈ $0.006/GB/mo) - Example: A 20 GB world uses:
120 credits/month (≈ $0.12)
2. Backup Storage (Optional, if You Keep Extra Copies)
If you enabled multiple backup sets, each backup also consumes storage.
- 0.20 credits per GB per day for each backup set
(~6 credits per GB per month per backup ≈ $0.006/GB/mo per backup) - Example: A 20 GB server with 1 backup set adds:
+120 credits/month (≈ $0.12)
Example – Small Server, 20 GB of Data, Paused
- Active storage: 120 credits/mo (≈ $0.12)
- Backup storage (1 backup): 120 credits/mo (≈ $0.12)
- Total when stopped: 240 credits/mo (≈ $0.24)
~ Note
- Backup sizes depend heavily on mods/plugins.
- A minimal vanilla server typically uses ~0.25 GB for the active server storage and per backup.
Why Do I Pay When the Server is Off?
Even paused, Maximus Host maintains:
- Your disk storage (worlds, mods, configs)
- Networking resources
- Optional backup snapshots
*This ensures your setup is always ready to restart instantly without data loss.
Supported Games & Dedicated IP Requirements
MaximusHost supports multiple game servers. Some games require a dedicated public IP address to function correctly. Servers that require a dedicated IP include an additional charge of 3000 credits per month ($3/month). Dedicated-IP charges continue while the server is stopped.
| Game | Status | Dedicated IP Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft Java | Fully Supported | No |
| Minecraft Bedrock | Fully Supported | No |
| Satisfactory | Fully Supported | Yes |
| Palworld | Fully Supported | No |
| Sons of the Forest | Beta | Yes |
| Terraria | Beta | No |
| Left 4 Dead 2 | Beta | No |
| Rust | Beta | No |
Game Server Cost Calculator
Estimate monthly hosting cost for Minecraft, Satisfactory, Terraria, Sons of the Forest, and more.
Satisfactory Server Hosting Cost
Satisfactory dedicated servers require a dedicated IP. Monthly cost depends on RAM, CPU allocation, and storage usage.
Sons of the Forest Server Hosting Cost
Sons of the Forest servers require a dedicated IP and typically use more RAM than lightweight game servers.
Minecraft Server Hosting Cost
Minecraft Java and Bedrock servers do not require a dedicated IP and are some of the most affordable options.
Summary:
- Running servers = credits burn per minute at tier rate.
- Stopped servers = storage + backups.
- Pay-as-you-go credits give flexibility so you can save and run occasionally.
- Schedule your start and stop times to automatically have your server ready for game time.
