New Games, Smarter Minecraft Servers, and More MaximusHost Improvements

new games and platform updates

The past week has brought one of the largest batches of MaximusHost updates so far. We’ve expanded our game library, introduced new Minecraft features, improved the server-management experience, clarified billing information, and completed a range of platform reliability upgrades behind the scenes.

Five New Games for Premium and Founder Members

We’re adding five new games for Premium and Founder members to begin testing:

  • Valheim
  • Project Zomboid
  • Core Keeper
  • Factorio
  • Killing Floor 2

These games are being released as beta offerings while we verify installation, connectivity, backups, scheduling, resource controls, file management, Discord integration, and the rest of the server lifecycle.

Premium and Founder members can help us test these games and report any problems they encounter. Features and configuration options may continue to change as we learn more about how each game performs in a live hosting environment.

Once testing is complete, we’ll evaluate making them available more broadly.

Minecraft Start-on-Join

Minecraft Java servers now support Start-on-Join when they have been stopped by Idle Auto-Shutdown.

Previously, the server owner needed to visit MaximusHost and manually start a sleeping server. Players can now attempt to connect using the server’s normal address, and MaximusHost will begin waking it automatically.

Players will see a MaximusHost message explaining that the server is sleeping or starting. Depending on the server version, installed mods, and startup time, they may need to reconnect once the server finishes loading.

Start-on-Join works alongside Idle Auto-Shutdown to help reduce unnecessary credit usage without making the server difficult for players to access. Servers that are stopped manually or by a schedule will remain stopped until the owner starts them normally.

Improved Minecraft Plugin Management

We’ve expanded the Minecraft Java plugin-management experience with easier setup, clearer settings, and improved support for plugins that provide their own web interfaces.

Supported plugins can now include guided Setup and Settings sections directly inside their management cards. Compatible plugin web interfaces can also be accessed through secure web addresses with convenient Open, Copy, and QR-code controls.

The first configured experience includes SimpleVoice-Geyser, which assists with supported Java and Bedrock voice-chat configurations. Existing plugins remain compatible, and plugins without a specialized setup experience will continue to use the existing management system.

We’ve also improved the Plugins page and My Servers display on phones and tablets. Action buttons are more consistent, addresses wrap more cleanly, settings are easier to use on smaller screens, and automatically managed endpoints are now presented more clearly.

To keep the main server Overview easy to read, detailed plugin controls remain on the Plugins tab while the Overview focuses on essential server and connection information.

Dedicated-IP and Connection Improvements

Several improvements were made to dedicated-IP handling and server connection information.

Minecraft Bedrock now supports an optional dedicated-IP configuration. Standard Bedrock servers will continue using their assigned address and port, while dedicated configurations can use the normal Bedrock port for a simpler connection address.

Sons of the Forest dedicated-IP networking has also been corrected so server traffic consistently uses the assigned address. Connection information now displays the appropriate direct IP where required.

These changes improve compatibility with games that work best with a fixed address or default port.

Clearer and More Accurate Billing Information

We completed a thorough review of MaximusHost billing calculations, credit information, server estimates, membership benefits, and customer-facing explanations.

The site now consistently reflects the current billing model:

  • Running paid servers are billed for allocated RAM and CPU.
  • Storage is billed while a paid server is stopped.
  • Billable dedicated IPs are charged while assigned.
  • The standard server creation fee is 50 credits.
  • The minimum credit purchase is 3,000 credits for $3.

Cost estimates now account more accurately for scheduled running time, stopped-server storage, dedicated-IP behavior, and applicable membership benefits.

Founder servers now correctly show normal running costs while receiving their applicable stopped-storage and dedicated-IP benefits. Designated free beta servers for eligible Premium and Founder members remain exempt from recurring usage charges while the membership entitlement is active.

Storage information has also been improved. Small amounts are no longer rounded down to 0.00 GB; they can now be displayed in MB, KB, or bytes when appropriate. Missing measurements are detected and corrected instead of being silently treated as zero.

Additional protections were introduced to help prevent duplicate credit purchases or referral rewards from being applied more than once.

Behind-the-Scenes Improvements

We’ve completed a broad collection of internal upgrades focused on reliability, security, maintenance, and future development.

These updates include:

  • Safer and more reliable platform deployments
  • Improved monitoring and health checks
  • Better recovery when an update is interrupted
  • Stronger protection for platform services and configuration
  • More reliable storage measurement and cleanup
  • Improved server maintenance tools
  • Database and supporting-service upgrades
  • Removal of obsolete platform components
  • Better mobile tools for platform monitoring and maintenance

We also introduced a shared foundation for creating and managing compatible game servers. This reduces duplicated development work and will help us add, test, and maintain additional games more efficiently. Existing supported games continue to use their current management pages, so this work does not change how those servers operate.

Most of these improvements are intentionally invisible during normal use, but they make MaximusHost more stable, easier to maintain, and better prepared for future growth.

What’s Next

Our immediate focus will be testing Valheim, Project Zomboid, Core Keeper, Factorio, Killing Floor 2, and other games with Premium and Founder members.

We’ll continue improving account management, server controls, mobile usability, and supported-game coverage as these new systems are tested. Additional updates will be announced as features are completed and become available.
