Connection and Passwords
Use the connection values shown for your server, not generic example ports or a join code saved from an earlier restart.
Join the running server
- Open Server Manage, start the server, and wait for the Console to show that it has finished launching.
- In Properties, find the displayed connection address and UDP game/query ports.
- Open Valheim's multiplayer flow on a compatible game client. Use a supported server-browser, address, or join-code method.
- Enter the server's current join password.
MaximusHost enables crossplay on the supported Valheim deployment. A PlayFab join code can appear after the server registers its lobby. Codes may change, and the community browser may take time to update. A browser listing and the ability to join are not exactly the same thing.
If the game doesn't appear, verify server readiness and the correct connection method before restarting it.
Public listing versus a private server
Open Properties → Settings → Server listing. Set Public if you intend the world to be discoverable in the server browser; select Private to reduce public discovery.
Listing visibility does not replace a password. Keep the join password private and share it only with intended players. Changing Settings saves the configuration for the next restart or queues a restart if you choose that option.
Change or retrieve the join password
The owner can set a new password in Properties → Settings. Leave the field blank to keep the current stored value.
To see the saved password, select Show current password in Settings. It is requested only when clicked; the password isn't included in routine Settings responses.
Optionally, in Overview, enable Randomize player password on start/restart. This changes the saved join password whenever a start or restart is queued. After the server starts, retrieve the current password again instead of trying the previous one. A manually saved password for a currently running server may not become active until restart.
Get the password using Discord
If the owner enabled Discord integration for this server and created a matching grant with Get Password, an authorized Discord user can run /mh list, select the Valheim server, and choose Get Password. The bot responds through an ephemeral private response.
Discord ownership alone does not bypass the grant. Guild, channel, role, and user restrictions still apply. Do not copy a private bot response to a public channel or put passwords in tickets.
If the Get Password control isn't shown, check the server's Discord enablement, the matching grant, and whether the bot sees the server in the current Discord context.
If players cannot connect
Check the server is running and ready, then verify the address, client compatibility, current join code, and current password. For an absent public listing, allow discovery to update or test a different supported join method.
For a rejected password after restart, check whether automatic rotation is enabled. For a player-specific problem, compare successful and unsuccessful clients before changing server-wide settings.
Console and incident information can help diagnose errors, but player activity derived from logs should be treated as approximate rather than as an authoritative current roster.
